Sherman Levy Reed of Ironton, Missouri, passed away May 4, 2023 in Fredericktown, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years. He was born June 14, 1939 in Madison County, Missouri, the son of the late Noah Burns Reed and Virgie Caroline (West) Reed. On February 2, 2013, he married Alma Marie (Allen) and she survives. He is also survived by five children: Tony (Diane) Reed of Ironton, Missouri, Mike (Connie) Reed of Ironton, Missouri, Michelle (Mike) Tyndall of Middlebrook, Missouri, Ricky Lee Reed of Arcadia, Missouri, and Janie (Jay) Sisk of Arkansas and two stepchildren; Thomas (Mary Renna) Spangler of Ironton, Missouri and Sandra Craig of Ironton, Missouri. Sherman is also survived by his sisters: Louise Mieser of Warrensburg, Missouri, Roberta Browers of Ironton, Missouri, Evelyn Nash of Belleview, Missouri, Patricia Mills of Kansas, Anise Browers of Ironton, Missouri Edith Swinford of Belleview, Missouri, and Karen Hunter of Rolla, Missouri. Sherman is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Julie Ann “Cricket” Guess, his brothers Ellis Reed and Junior Reed, two half-brothers; Vernon Reed and Elzie “Bud” Reed and two half-sisters; Irene Kiger and Lucille Graham. Sherman worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. He loved to listen to Bluegrass music and go to the Sprint Car races. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Polk Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Bryson Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Polk Cemetery Association.
