Shirley Jean Stone, 93, of Farmington, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Manor at Elfindale in Springfield. She was born February 10, 1933, on Route 1 in Farmington, the daughter of the late Aundo Marshall Carver and Mary Elizabeth (Hoehn) Carver. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Loman Thomas Stone; her sister-in-law Artie Detring; and her brother-in-law Noble Stone and his wife Velma.
Shirley is survived by her sons Mark Stone (Ginger) and Darwin Stone (Monica); granddaughter Allison Gibson (Caleb); great-granddaughter Emerie Gibson; brother Aundo James Carver (Faye); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley and Loman were married on August 4, 1951. While Loman served in the United States Army, Shirley joined him in Kodiak, Alaska, where she worked in the Civil Service. Before her retirement on September 1, 1994, she worked for more than 26 years at the Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center in Farmington.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at age nine and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Doe Run. In 1960 she and her family transferred their membership to First Baptist Church in Farmington, where she faithfully served in many roles, primarily as a Bible study teacher for various age groups. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing piano, spending time with family, vacationing, researching genealogy, and needlework.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home — Taylor Chapel in Farmington on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rocky Good officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial donations may be made to New Heights Church, First Baptist Church of Farmington Building Fund, or Integrity Hospice of Springfield, Missouri.
