Norvel A. “Sonny” Wells Jr., age 71, of Farmington, passed away on December 30, 2020, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital from Covid-19. He was born November 26, 1949 in Poplar Bluff, MO to the late Norvel A. Wells Sr. and Lola (Taylor) Wells. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Wells Reiner.
Sonny was a 30 year retiree from the Pipefitters Union Local #562. Sonny was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765, he proudly served his country for 6 years with the Army Reserve during time of war, and he attended the First Baptist Church of Farmington.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Sandra (Payne) Wells; children, Brandi (Jeff) Richardson, Cassie (Jesse Jenkins) Brauer, Stephanie Skaggs, and Stephen Skaggs all from St. Francois County; grandchildren, Daniel Sadler, Cody Wade, Chloe Skaggs, Lucas Richardson, Layne Brauer, and Corrine Brauer, and their father, Jeremy Brauer; step-mother, Doris (Wiles) L. Wells; eight siblings, Carrol (Don) Tavelli of New York, Ron (Helen) Schivitz of Missouri, Gary (Rebecca) Wells of South Carolina, Linda (Steve Gibbs) McHenry, Donna Bevels, Dan (Sheila) Wells, Alan Wells, Mark (Mercedes) Wells all of Missouri; also survived by his very special “baby dog” AnnieBelle.
Family and friends may gather at the Taylor Chapel parking lot in Farmington at 10 am, the funeral procession will leave at 10:15 for Hillview Memorial Gardens where a public graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Monday January 4, 2021. Sonny will be dearly missed and was loved by many, the family has requested all friends and family to simply smile, say a prayer, and to leave a note or a special memory on the online guest book via www.czboyer.com. The graveside service will be live streamed on C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Homes Facebook page and/or in case of technical difficulties the service will be recorded and posted at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
