On March 15, 2026, Stanley Clinton Crocker passed peacefully surrounded by family at home, exactly as he wished. He was born on February 6, 1947 in Ironton, Missouri and remained a citizen of Ironton much of his life both physically and in spirit. Stan graduated from Arcadia Valley High School in 1965 where also he served in the ROTC.
From 1965-1967 Stan worked as an Operating Engineer with the local 513 Union and again from 1967-2005, when he retired. Stan served with distinction in the United States Airforce from 1967-1970 at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA, Libya, and Germany. Using many of those skills honed in the 513, he served as President of the Chapter 32 Experimental Aircraft Association of St. Louis in 2002 and 2003 and was a central figure in the building of the Aviation Resource Center, a learning center for youth education related to aviation.
Stan loved anything involving a motor or engine. His hobbies included boating, water skiing, motorhome camping, model planes, being an aircraft pilot and building full sized airplanes, epic motorcycle rides in North Carolina, and rehabbing old cars and trucks. Life simplified as he got older. Other than his unending love for his wife Charlotte, two of his greatest loves later in life were his pets and his bicycle rides with friends. He cherished them both dearly.
His biggest gifts to those of us left behind were his infectious smile, hearty handshake, and openness to all. He cared greatly for his breakfast club friends at McDonald’s and was always happy to know that politics could take a back seat to friendship. He hoped that would continue after he passed. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Crocker, his dutiful son Stanley Todd Crocker and daughter-in-law Suzanne Johnson, his sister Ladene Dylewski, and his brother and best friend Curtis Crocker. The Crocker family wishes for all that the sorrow of Stan’s loss is quickly replaced by the joy of his memories.
