Susan Elizabeth Degonia, 66, Arcadia, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 1, 1959, in Ironton.

She was the daughter of the late Carl S. Degonia, and Juanita Wood Hunt, Arcadia, who survives.

Susan was a 1977 graduate of Arcadia Valley High School and a 1981 graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia. She was a member of the Ste. Marie du Lac Catholic Church in Ironton.

During her working years, she was a certified dental assistant, ran the local WIC program, managed the Arcadia Valley school lunch program, worked as a pharmacy tech and retired as the city clerk for Arcadia.

She was an advocate for animal rescue groups in the area and adopted and fostered abandoned pets for many years. Susan was an enthusiastic Jeep owner and participated in Jeep events throughout the area. She also enjoyed cycling on her e-bike with a local cycling group.

She was a strong supporter of the Arcadia Valley, volunteering her time for many events and projects.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Carl Degonia; an infant sister, Julie Degonia, her stepfather Giles Hunt, her paternal grandparents Ervin and Molly Degonia and her maternal grandparents Fird and Laura Wood.

She is survived by her mother, Juanita Wood Hunt, Arcadia; her sister, Pam Dolle and husband, Tony, Mt. Juliet, TN; a nephew, Dr. Aaron Dolle and wife, Julia, Nixa; a niece, Sarah Willemsen and husband, Russ, Cookeville, TN. Three great nieces, Hayden Dolle, Nixa; Ruthie Willemsen and Lettie Willemsen both of Cookeville, TN.

She is also survived by many great friends throughout the area. She loved her family, her fur babies and the beautiful Arcadia Valley. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Bryson Funeral Home in Pilot Knob. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Father Emmanuel officiating.  Internment will follow in the Arcadia Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
