It is with profound sadness yet deep appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Thelma Darlene Sansoucie, who departed this world peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on Wednesday, May 12, 1937, in DeSoto, Missouri, Thelma's journey through life was characterized by an enduring warmth and a spirit that illuminated the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Thelma, a loving mother and cherished friend, devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She is survived by her beloved children: Linda Hamlett, Debra (Leslie) Sundhausen, Karen (Ron) Watkins and Fred (girlfriend Kathy) Hamlett; granddaughter, Stephanie (Billy) Lyerla; great-granddaughter, Abby Lyerla.
Her legacy extends to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly her great granddaughter Abby, with whom she shared countless joyful moments playing Monopoly, and her dear granddaughter Stephanie who was a source of comfort and support in her later years.
As a Certified Medication Technician at a local nursing home, Thelma poured her heart into caring for others, showing compassion and kindness to everyone around her. She derived immense joy from the simple treasures of life—feeding squirrels and chipmunks in her yard, tending to her beloved garden, where she found solace planting bulbs and nurturing her spring blooms. Her culinary talents shone in her homemade beans and cornbread, always shared with love.
Thelma's home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special and cherished. She embraced her family and friends with open arms and was always ready with a warm hug, her laughter bubbling like the most joyous of melodies. Her strength in times of adversity was an inspiration to many, reminding us all of the resilience of the human spirit.
Thelma Darlene Sansoucie leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, woven with love and joy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a local animal shelter in honor of Thelma's love for her furry companions, particularly her dog Daisy or ACG Hospice who took loving care of her.
Thelma will be dearly missed but will continue to live on through the love she cultivated and the lives she changed. Her loving spirit is a reminder of the beauty of life’s simple pleasures and the power of compassion in this world. Thelma was preceded in death by: Parents, James John and Sadie Ethel (Strickland) Rawson; sons, David Sansoucie and Robert (Bobby) Sansoucie; her loving siblings.
