Toby Mathes

          Mark “Toby” Allen Mathes, age 70, of Park Hills, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Thursday, November 20, 1952, in Bonne Terre to the late Lester James Mathes and Norma Jean (Hulsey) Toppins.

          Toby worked as a flooring contractor and retired from Busenbark Flooring and Granite. He was a member of the Carpenters Union #1310, in St. Louis. He was an avid race car fan and was a pit crew member for multiple racing teams. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He was of Baptist faith.    

          In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Martin “Marty” Mathes and his loving dog and best friend Machie.

          He is survived by his loving daughter, Sarah Lindsey and husband Gabriel; grandchildren, Isaac and Magdalyn Lindsey; sister, Katherine Sue Kennedy and husband John; former wife and friend, Dawn Mathes; life-long friends, Van Smith and Frankie Rawlins along with special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he dearly loved.

          Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge from 5:00 PM until Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 PM with Kenny Wallace officiating. Memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society.
