Tom "Shorty" Isabel

Mr. Thomas "Shorty" Isabel, Jr., passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at MARMC, Farmington, at the age of 84 years & 11 months. Tom was born Oct. 19, 1923, in SilverMines, MO., & was the son of Thomas & Anna Mae 'Higbee' Isabel. Also preceding: his wife, Neova Louise "Jo" Isabel (2000); Sister, Maxine Thomure & Brother, Melvin Isabel.

Tom was a longtime, faithful member of the Farmington Church of Christ. He was a US ARMY WWII Vet, serving in the 11th Infantry, 1st Armored Div. His Army service started in No. Africa, under Gen. Patton's command. He was sent to the front lines in Italy during the Anzio invasion & served there for a year. During the year he had both feet frozen and 1 foot run over by a tank. For his service he was awarded: a Purple Heart; 2 Bronze Stars & The Good Conduct Medal. Tom was a watchmaker at Gift Chest Jewelers, Farmington for 38 years. He was a Lifetime Member of Norman L. Rigdon VFW Post #5896 & a former member of LePere-McCallister American Legion Post #416. Tom was an avid fisherman & went to Texas for 22 years after retiring.

Survivors Include: 2 Sons, Tom J. (& Sharon) Isabel, of Farmington; David (& Cindy) Isabel, of Farmington. Brother-In-Law: Bus Thomure, of Ore City, TX; 5 Grandchildren: Tammy Isabel, of Austin, TX; Jason (& Tracy) Isabel, of Farmington; Darren (& Jennifer) Klemp, of Land'o'Lakes, FL; Mellisa 'Mrs. Jeff' Pigg, of Farmington & Heather Watkins, of Farmington. 10 Great-Grandchildren: Riley; Madison; Kasey; Katy; Alec; Melina; Lucas; Marcus; Casey & Corey.

Visitation : Monday, 5-9 pm, Visitation resumes Tuesday, 6:30 am

Funeral : Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., September 23, 2008

at : TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Minister Harwell Lambert officiating. The funeral procession to the cemetery will be led by the Patriot Guard Riders.

Interment with Full Military Honors at : Parkview Cemetery, Farmington. The procession will be led by Patriot Guard Riders.
