Listen to Obituary

Evelyn Boyer, 87, of Bonne Terre, passed away October 21, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 2, 1939, in Garden City, to the late John and Hattie (Mosier) Setzer.

Evelyn was a devoted member of the Gospel Light Free Will Baptist Church, where she found strength in her faith and joy in her community. Over the years, she held various positions, including working at the Quality Stamp Store in Flat River, serving as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Bonne Terre Hospital, and serving the children as a cafeteria worker for the Central School District. A gifted seamstress, Evelyn poured her heart into embroidering, creating beautiful pillowcases, lap blankets, and items for both babies and adults, which she generously gave as gifts and donated to church events. Her passion for gardening brought life to her home, where her flower garden flourished under her care. Evelyn had a remarkable ability to uplift those around her and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Delbert Carson Boyer; siblings, Datha “Sis” Southard, Norene Paul, Richard “Dick” Setzer, Charlie Setzer, Kenneth Setzer and Lois Rich.

Evelyn is survived by her three children, David Boyer and wife Portia, Danny Boyer and wife Kendra, Debbie Franklin and husband Greg; five grandchildren, Dustin Boyer, Derek (Courtney) Boyer, Aaron Boyer, Emma Boyer and Erica Franklin; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Maddison and Paisley; siblings, Anita Fickle, Marge (Dale) Adams and Ronald (Marty) Setzer; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.

The family would also like to send out a special thank you to Serenity Hospice for their care and support.

Visitation will be held at Gospel Light Free Will Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Reverend Larry Allison will be officiating. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery in Farmington.
