Vickie Harold Gray, “Vick”, departed this life for his Heavenly home on Sunday, May 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Thursday, February 12, 1948, to the late Jewell and Belle (Lawson) Gray in Manilla, Arkansas. Vick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Vick was preceded in death by two (2) sisters, baby Grace Gray and baby Inez Gray, and five (5) brothers, Gerald Gray, Frank Gray, Wallace Gray, William Gray and Kenny Gray.
Vick was an E5 service member of the United States Army prior to the start of his career at General Motors in Wentzville, MO and as a cattle/hay farmer in rural Bonne Terre, MO. He was also a member of the Shriners for many years. Anyone who knew him could tell he was near when they would hear his famous train whistle. He could be heard clear across Walmart with that whistle!
Vick loved having family reunions out at the farm, complete with fish frys and playing music together. He loved his dogs, cats and his “pet” cows. When Vick would take his John Deere out to the fields the cows would come running to him! During Central High School football season, he could often be found standing around the field cheering on the Rebels. However, his favorite job and pastime was his role of grandpa. The way his face would light up when he would see his babies, whether on facetime or in person, would light up the world. Vick will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was the pillar of strength in his family; always there to help anyone with anything from vehicle repairs to building houses and so much more.
Vick is survived by his loving wife , Carol (Myers) Gray, of 57 years; two (2) sons, Scotty (wife Dana) Gray and Ricky (wife Becky) Gray; five (5) grandchildren and two (2) step grandchildren, Andrew (wife Ariel) Gray, Kaylee Gray, Avary Gray, Libby Gray, Shelby Girgis and Ziva Girgis; five (5) great grandchildren, Amara Maldonado, Dallas Vanskiver, Barrett Stephenson, and twins Isla and Opal Gray (due in July 2026); three (3) brothers, Bobby (wife Madeline) Gray, Roy Gray and Jeff (wife Winda) Gray; two (2) sisters and three (3) sisters in law, Sandra (husband Tommy) Brooks, Linda Carol Lawrence, Marge Gray, Brenda Gray and Rhonda Gray; bonus daughter Diana McConnell; bonus grandson Ryne Sherffius and bonus great granddaughter Saylor Scherffius; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the service time of 1:00 PM. Entombment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
