Virginia Catherine Shelton

Virginia Catherine Shelton, age 92 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto, Illinois. She was born on July 2, 1924 in Fredericktown, Missouri, a daughter of John Kurtis and Rosella (Hogue) Phillips. On September 3, 1938 in Fredericktown she was united in marriage to Charles Sampson Shelton, he preceded her in death on ---- 1994. She is also preceded by her parents, sons - Kenneth and Charles Curt Shelton; daughters - Angela and Annette Shelton; sisters - Anna Emmett, Stella Rehkop, Mary Lundsford and Dorothy Johnson; brothers - Clifford, Herbert and James Phillips and one grandson.      She is survived by one son - Marc (Christine) Shelton of Bethalto; two daughters- Rose (Garry) Cooper of Rosewood Heights, Illinois and Judy (Larry) Myers of Cottage Hills, Illinois; two sisters - Lela Savage of Festus, Missouri and Barb (William) Hennon of Fredericktown; one brother - Gary Phillips of Crystal City, Missouri; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildrenand four great-great-grandchildren.      Virginia had worked for Brown Shoe Company in Fredericktown; she enjoyed sewing, playing the guitar and cooking family dinners and going to church where she was a member at the Twin Oaks Free Will Baptist Church in Fredericktown.       Visitiation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday also at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Michael officiating.
