Walter “Walt” Shelton, 90, of Bismarck, passed away July 14, 2022, at Jefferson Mercy in Festus. He was born January 21, 1932, in Caledonia, to the late Clarence and Arabella (McCormick) Shelton. Walt was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bismarck and loved his occupation in trucking. Walt enjoyed telling trucking stories, small engines, gardening and things that go fast.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn (Shelton) Leslie; siblings, Ralph, Tom, Frank, C.F., Cruise Shelton, Clifford Hicks, Pauline Day, Kathryn Buesking, Helen Stamper, Mary Sadler and Martha Airsman.
Walt is survived by his wife Janice (Inman) Shelton of Bismarck; children, Victor “Vic” Shelton and wife Gleta, Marilyn VanHerck and husband Glen; grandchildren, Josh (Blair) Shelton, Molly (Taylor) Scott; and two great-grandchildren, Theodore “Theo” Scott and Rhys Scott.
There will be a private graveside service, for family only on Monday July 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Bismarck Masonic Cemetery, with Pastor Beth Allen officiating. It will be followed by a public Celebration of Life at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church in Bismarck. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Bismarck at PO Box 286, Bismarck, MO 63624.
