Mrs. Wanda Jean (Nash) Bates, departed this life on June 25, 2008. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Elvins, MO., to the late Donald & Mabel Nash. Surviving children are: Mrs. Jimy Lee (Rick) Moyers, of Bonne Terre, MO., Mr. Michael LeRoy (Danielle) Bates, of Munford, TN & Mr. Tad Bates of Ste. Genevieve, MO.
She is preceded-in-death by: her parents; Donald & Mabel Nash; husband, James Nelson Bates; 2 Children: Patricia Jean Graham & Sonja Ann Bates. 4 Sisters: Francis Wampler; Delores Politte; Edna Sweet & Pamela Nash.
Surviving include 1 sister, Hazel JoAnn Heaps, of Bismarck, MO; several Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Great, Great-Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews and other family members.
Wanda had several accomplishments in her lifetime. She was a member of the Eastern Star; a Sunday School Teacher for the Webster Groves Presbyterian Church; a successful business woman & owner of several restaurants, The Riverside Tavern; The Bates Boarding Home & a cook for Luhr Brothers Barge Line for over 30 years, in which she retired from in 2003.
A Memorial Service will be held, Friday, 6:30 p.m., June 27, 2008, at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Tisha Mundy officiating.
Visitation starts Friday @ 5:00 p.m.
She will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing and loving her.
