Wanda Deloris West went to be with her Saviour October 24, 2024 in Park Hills, Missouri at the age of 91 years. She was born April 6, 1933, the daughter of the late Lucien “Cannonball” and Martha Ellen (Hampton) Goodman. On September 13, 1952 she was united in marriage to Ogie Levi West who preceded her in death. To this union two children were born: Dolores Rowe and husband, Richard of Bonne Terre, Missouri and Tim West and wife, Lisa of Jewett, Missouri. Wanda was grandmother to six grandchildren: Amy Rowe (Brian Merritt), Krysta Richardson, (husband, Kevin) April Firebaugh, James (Tommy) King, Morgan West (Dave Harrison), and the late Ethan West (fiancé, Shawna Epler). Nine great grandchildren, Bayli, Macey, Jessica, Dalton, Colton Lacey, Adalee, Westlee and Ocyous (O.G.), and four great great grandchildren, Harper, Cade, Ember and Violet also survive as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Wanda was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Martha (Jane) Goodman, Charles Goodman, Harvel “Pard” Goodman, Margie Watts, Reba Oxner, Carolyn Hamilton, and Mattie Ann Evans. Wanda was a hard worker and stayed busy working in her garden, canning, and caring for her family. She loved to cook, and she especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She was known for her chicken and dumplings and fried apple pies. She loved to travel, especially with her girlfriends; Bev Johnson, Louise Toppins, Pal Dinkins, and her sister Carolyn. They took a memorable trip when they all piled in Bev’s car and took off to New York traveling the east coast on the way. They had a great time and made many memories. She had a great sense of humor and could be quite feisty. She also loved music and sang specials in her church. Wanda was a member of the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene and contributed wherever she was needed in her church. Wanda’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Country Meadows and Preferred Hospice for the care given to their Mom. They all went above and beyond in their care for Wanda and it is so deeply appreciated. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 12:00 Noon from the Annapolis Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Howard Casteel officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Polk Cemetery in Arcadia, Missouri., after a meal is served in the church banquet room. We will leave for Polk Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Annapolis Church of the Nazarene or American Cancer Society.
