William Paul Towner, 85, of Farmington passed away April 27, 2026 at the de Greef Hospice House in St. Louis. He was born February 20, 1941 in Van Buren, MO to the late John Thomas Towner and Elsie Pearl (Brown) Towner-Davis. He proudly served his community as a police officer with the City of St. Louis and was a dedicated member of the St. Louis Police Officers Association. Outside of his service, he found great joy in fishing—especially trout—and cherished the time spent bringing family and friends together for his beloved fish fries. After his retirement from law enforcement, he continued to stay active, working at Car-Mart in Farmington, as he was never one to sit still and always needed something to do. His hardworking spirit, love for others, and passion for simple joys will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen (Fair) Towner; eight siblings; and step-daughter, Renai M. Hiebert.
William is survived by his wife, Patricia (Plunk) Towner; two children, Kim (Bill) Klaus, and Kerry (Sandi) Towner; two step-children, Kenny (Robin) Hiebert, and Rita (Max) Barkley; five grandchildren, Chris (Erica) Towner, Katie Alcorn, Joshua (Jenn) Klaus, Jacob (Rai) Klaus, Jordan (Nick) Kuper; six great-grandchildren, Brett Alcorn, Shay Alcorn, Benny Towner, Jackson Klaus, Kaiya Klaus and Kodi Klaus. Numerous additional grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Memorial donations may be made to the de Greef Hospice House of St. Louis.
