Wilma Massey, 88, of Farmington, was an enduring spirit of kindness and faith, who passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at Parkland Hospital South in Farmington. Born on January 25, 1937, in Irondale, she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Opal (Brydon) Pyatt. Wilma led a life filled with purpose and devotion. A longstanding member of the Irondale Assembly of God Church, she was a faithful servant to her community and a devoted follower of her faith. Over the years, she made significant contributions at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, where she worked various positions for a dedicated 30 years of her life. At the time of retirement, Wilma held the position of secretary to the Director of Nursing, cultivating many friendships and earning deep respect from her colleagues. Her passions were abundant, but perhaps one of her most beloved pastimes was bowling, a sport she enjoyed for an impressive 53 years. Her commitment was celebrated with a 50-year pin, a testament to her dedication and love for the game. Wilma found joy not only in the thrill of competition but also in the camaraderie formed with fellow bowlers. In her quiet moments, Wilma would immerse herself in prayer and scripture, reading her Bible daily. She found comfort and joy in singing cherished hymns, with “I’ll Fly Away” holding a special place in her heart. Her soothing voice, echoing through the halls of her home, brought peace to those blessed enough to hear it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Dorr “Arkie” Massey, Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Jean Massey; one grandson, Shea Massey; siblings, Bob Pyatt, Bill Pyatt, Gertie Brewer and Edna Pyatt.
