Wilma V. Collins

Wilma Victoria Collins passed away on March 30, 2019 at the age of 90.5 years at Manor Grove Skilled Nursing Home in Kirkwood, MO.  Wilma lived most recently at Hilltop Manor in Eureka, MO where she moved in 2017 to be closer to her daughter.  Prior to that Wilma and her husband Norman moved from St. Louis to Farmington in 1991 when Norman retired.  They had many friends at Sunnyview Church of Christ and the Farmington Senior Center. 

Wilma was born on August 4, 1928 to Henry Farley Wheeler and Ora McKinney Wheeler.  Wilma was born and raised in Briar, MO a heavily wooded, unincorporated township, seven miles west of Doniphan, MO.  Briar was a place Wilma dearly loved.  It is where she met and married Norman Fuston Collins on January 18, 1947. Norman was a classmate, neighbor and friend of her oldest brother who lived further on down the gravel road, past her Grandfather McKinney’s house.  Norman and Wilma both attended a one room school named Pleasant Hill.  Norman was in seventh grade when Wilma was in first.  Wilma and Norman had been married 58 years when Norman passed away October 29, 2005.   Wilma was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters:  Hope, Edna, Wallace, Helen, Irene, Jerry, Wayne and Ella (who died shortly after birth).

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Peggy Polovich and husband, Gary Polovich of St. Louis, MO; and grandson, Michael Collins Polovich, of Philadelphia.  Wilma is also survived by loving son, Kenneth Collins and wife, Alvina Collins of Parker, CO and granddaughter, Katie and husband, Dr. Kelly Lennon; great-grandchildren, Connor and Amelia; granddaughter, Kellie and husband, Cory Knopp; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Rylan.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 12:30 PM until the time of service at 1:30 PM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son – Taylor Chapel in Farmington with Bro. Tim Glasshof officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Sunnyview Church of Christ, 2801 Highway H, Farmington, MO  63640.
