Young Reed

Young Reed, age 69, of Desloge, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at Mercy South in St.
Louis. He was born on Saturday, April 24, 1954, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Gene and Etta (Wilson) Reed.

Young Reed was raised on the racetracks of Colorado, Kansas, & Arizona. He was a genuine
cowboy and a great horseman. He possessed multiple talents, being not only a skilled cowboy
and horseman but also a visionary carpenter. One of his greatest passions was helping others,
and his true calling was to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide, which is when he was
his happiest. As part of his mission, he established Africa Ho Ministries, dedicating himself to
spreading the message of hope and faith throughout Africa. The impact of his ministry was
especially felt in Uganda and Kenya, where they continue to spread the love of Jesus.
Throughout Africa he was known as “The Jesus Cowboy”, a testament to the love and
admiration he showed to the people. His presence was cherished, and his loss will be deeply felt
across the world.

Young is survived by his loving wife, Penny (Harris) McDowell; children, Jeremy Young Reed, Grant Jameson Reed and wife Ashley, Renata Allyn Fair and husband John; bonus children, Jeromy McDowell and wife Julie, Nicole McDowell and fiancé Jag Oakes; grandchildren, Conrad Reed, Madelyn Amyx, Alexander Ray Jameson Reed, Allyn Kenzlee Fair and Jaxston Fair; bonus grandchildren, Kai McDowell, Kendall McDowell and Cru McDowell; brothers,Hunt Reed, Joe Reed, and Matt Reed; sisters Debra Reed, Candence Vanderbilt; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends from around the world.
